1870Pleasant DeSpain becomes the first homesteader, and the area takes the name DeSpain Junction.

1876Edward and Mahalia Bowles, who homesteaded here in 1871, finish their two-story brick house after five years of work.

1881The railroad is completed through the Bowles land, and Edward Bowles builds a depot on his property.

1911The settlement, called Harris Park or Harrisberg in the 1890s, becomes Westminster, named for the nearby college.
